Lumia 1020 vs Samsung Galaxy S4

If you are looking forward to purchase a High-end Smartphone, you might be baffled between these two ultimate handsets. Follow the detailed overview, and head-on comparison to assist you decide.

Display

Lumia 1020 features a 4.5 inch Amoled screen, with a resolution of 1280 x 768, delivering 332 PPI pixel resolution.

On the other hand, Galaxy S4 is equipped with a whopping 5 inch Super Amoled screen, with an impressive 1080p Full HD resolution. It renders a 441 PPI Pixel resolution. Galaxy S4 has an advantage over the 1020 in display aspect. It renders sharper images, true-to-life colors and crisp video playback.

Design

Design is the most decisive factor for prospective buyers of the current generation. The Lumia sports an exquisite appearance, with impressive build quality, only preceded by the iPhone series. Vibrant Color Options, Unibody design make it grab the eyeballs around you. The only let down is it’s camera lens projecting out, which appears prominent in the rear view.

While, the S4 falls behind in terms of design, with it’s criticized plastic body, average build quality and sports it’s trademark design of the Galaxy series handsets. I am much annoyed by the fact that, people can’t really make out the difference between Galaxy S Duos, S Grand and S4 (One being the entry-level Smartphone, while the latter being the ultimate Smartphone as claimed by Samsung).

Despite adding a poor appearance, Plastic Body fortifies the durability of the Smartphone and offers maximum protection during accidental falls, and more over it, it makes the Smartphone lighter. Lumia is around 30 grams heavier than the S4, which weighs around 130 grams.

Processor

S4 is equipped with it’s trademark Qualcomm SnapDragon QuadCore 600 CPU clocked at 1.9 GHZ and 2GB RAM.

On the other hand, Lumia 1020 is equipped with SnapDragon S4 Processor clocked at 1.5 GHZ featuring 2 GB RAM as well. S4 is definitely more powerful than 1020 in terms of hardware and processing speed. It executes tedious and high end application, which require multi-threading significantly more optimized and reliably.

Camera

Camera is another performance defining factor for any SmartPhone. Lumia 1020 is equipped with a jaw-dropping 41 MP camera, while its counterpart S4 features a mere 13-MP camera. So, there’s your answer.

1020’s camera enables you to capture true to life images. Motion Stabilization and Noise Reduction contribute to its quality. It can replace a mid-ranged Point and shoot camera. On the other hand, S4’s camera delivers an adequate performance, obviously doesn’t match the former’s 41 MP performance.

Verdict

Samsung Galaxy S4 and Lumia 920 excel in their own ways, posing a stiff competition. The choice ultimately depends on your needs.

If you are looking for an elegant, camera-centric Smartphone, the 1020 is a tailor-fit for you. However, if you are intrigued by S4’s hardware, display and innovative features like Gesture support, Retina sensor, e.t.c, you should probably go for it.

Not to mention, your OS preference is the most decisive factor in my opinion. If you are familiarized with Android and it’s wide range of application, Windows Phone 8 platform might let your expectations down.
