It seems as if Samsung isn’t giving up on its Galaxy legacy. This time around the South Korean multi nationals has come up with a mid-range mobile device which runs on the Android operating system. Lovingly called the Galaxy Core, this feature-rich phone supports dual-sim and comes with a compact 4.3 inch screen.
For storage purposes, the device features 8 GB internal memory and 1 GB of RAM, along with 1.2 GHz Dual-core processor. And just like all other mobile sets from Samsung, this one also has a Micro SD card which is expandable up to 64 GB, leveraging users with that extra storage space.

Screening the Display
The short but crisp 4.3 inch WVGA display is a TFT screen with LCD feature, offering users a resolution of 480X800 to look at. It may not suit the suite of 1080 p screens which are currently reining the Android market, but since Samsung clearly seems to focus on the cost factor, this display isn’t a bad bet.
Focusing on the Camera
The Galaxy Core features a 5 mega pixel back camera with LED Flash, along with a front version whose specifications haven’t been disclosed yet. And owing to such a hideous approach, it is likely to be a low resolution affair only. As far as the video recording is concerned Core doesn’t have much at its disposal.
The smart phone is capable of recording only 30 frames per second at 480 p. This could come handy if you are working on a small YouTube video, but other than that it isn’t much of a help.
Running Behind the Operating System
This low-end smart phone from Samsung operates on Android Jelly Bean (version 4.1), supporting a blinding collection of applications and Samsung’s TouchWhiz Screen. The mobile manufacturer has done away with Android firmware in this device, which seems quite odd. Let’s expect that they will soon release a software update to fix this issue.
Evaluating the Battery Life
Battery life is a major factor which impacts the acceptance and popularity of a device in the mobile arena. Samsung Galaxy Core comes decked up with an 1800 mAh battery. This might seem basic as compared to modern-day standards, but looking at the low-end hardware flaunted in the rest of the device, it’s pretty serviceable.
What more is in Store for You?
Galaxy Core will be available in two variants- single-SIM variant which will hit the markets in July, and a dual-SIM iteration which will be available in the month of May. According to Samsung officials, in the latter versions, users will be able to swap between sims without much hassle.
However, they haven’t dropped a hint about how they are likely to make it possible. Industry experts believe that Samsung might ape the Easy Swap technology used by Finnish manufacturer Nokia in its Asha range of feature phones.
How The New Galaxy Core Will Fair?
Well, at such a nascent stage it’s difficult to predict either the success or failure of this new Samsung kid on the block. But if the South Korean manufacturer provides users with the Easy Swap feature and tags a competitive price for this low-end Android device, it will surely emerge as a winner.
